Astonished by the tennis skills of Peyton Manning, John McEnroe takes a cheeky Charles Barkley jibe at the NFL legend

John McEnroe and his brother Patrick McEnroe have always been associated with tennis. They played, analyzed, and commented, among many things. Johnny Mac even played against Novak Djokovic as the latter challenged McEnroe for a match at the US Open. Even in his 60s, the tennis bad boy showed his dominance on the court by defeating the Serb in a fun game.

Recently McEnroe brothers played another fun game, this time doubles but not with any tennis professionals. The on-court fun and comments they threw at each other got the audience cracked up as Superbrat continued his sass dominance, too.

McEnroe brothers played tennis with football professionals and took a dig at them throughout their match. They played against Wes Welker and Peyton Manning, the former known for being a coach and the latter a quarterback. Being from NFL, they gave their best effort to play doubles in tennis, which is considered tougher than singles.

In an ESPN+ series titled ‘McEnroe’s Places,’ Johnny Mac made fun of Manning’s shots, as the latter appeared clueless. In episode 6 of the series, the boys casually hit the court, where Football professionals struggled to keep up as the McEnroe brothers moved with ease. Watching the game of football quarterback, McEnroe was reminded of Charles Barkley‘s golf swing.

The 7 times Grand Slam winner pointed out at Manning and said, “Is this guy remind you that he plays tennis the way Charles Barkley plays golf?” Barkley is a former NBA power forward who is passionate about playing golf. The NBA’s Hall of Famer retired from basketball in 2000 and has been working on his golf swing ever since. He continues to pursue his passion irrespectively of the comments he receives.

After Superbrat poked fun of Manning, his brother, too, stepped in and said the game is going to be on the TV and reminded the football professionals that they agreed to show their game to the world. Undoubtedly the McEnroe brothers won the game, though the football partners won the match point at the end.

The amateur players even tried to get into the heads of the McEnroe brothers, but it did not work. During the handshake at the nets, Manning hilariously brushed the tennis professionals’ win saying it was bad luck that they could not win as New York is just not their place.
