The American tennis legend John McEnroe’s original Nike signature shoes, which debuted in 1984, are set to make a blockbuster return. Almost after 4 decades, the seven-time Grand Slam Champion’s vintage shoes will be released once again.

This year, it’s all going to be about vintage sneakers coming back into fashion. Yes, Nike is having a retro comeback this year. And this vintage idea came into fashion, back in 2021, as some high-profile figures who are part of the Nike family, such as LeBron James, rocked some vintage pairs of sneakers. Nike has shared the first look at the Mac Attack OG retro release. And by the summer of this year, they will be formally accessible to the audience. Additionally, the vintage collection is specially made with original design cues to give the sneakers a retro vibe.

The former tennis legend’s vintage sneaker will be a little different in style, but it will be great to have a vintage pair that was literally on the scene almost 5 decades ago. Now talking about the design of the sneaker, according to Nike, the upper built of the shoe is formed with mesh underlays and a smooth leather coating over it. Both of them are covered with a light gray tint, or dye, as we call it.

Not only that, the sneakers have mesh toe boxes, a very minimal heel, and proper leather collars surrounding the sneakers. The sneaker tongue has a checkerboard pattern in black and blue. And also have a bold, red Nike Activewear logo on it over that checkerboard.

The comeback of the vintage sneakers literally started in 2012 but got clear attention when in Janaury 2021 NBA star LeBron James wore the Mac Attack while walking down the NBA tunnel carrying a rare version of those sneakers.
