The 22-time Grand Slam champion has a similar mentality to that of the NBA and LA Lakers legend. He recently shared how his self-belief and confidence on the court are his greatest assets. 

Both well-known personalities are breaking records in their respective sports. In the tennis world, the world number one captured his 22nd major title and also broke records as he won his 10th title Down Under. Whereas on the other hand, the 38-year-old Lakers legend recently broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA scoring record. And after the record-breaking match, he proclaimed himself the greatest basketball player of all time. Despite losing his own scoring record to the six-time NBA champion. Abdul-Jabbar appreciated the 38-year-old for his record-setting performance.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion in an interview with The National shared his take over fans calling the basketball star ‘arrogant’ after his statement. The world number 1 detailed that he can relate to the basketball star’s mentality of being the best player ever.

He said, “Yes, I can relate to that because I believe that what worked for me and still works for me is that self-belief and confidence level. I know that when I’m ready, when I’m there out on the court, on any surface, against anybody, I’m better, I’m the best. And I don’t think there’s anything arrogant or pretentious about it.”

According to the tennis star, who himself is a part of the tennis GOAT debate, self-belief and confidence play a huge role in achieving a legendary status in any field. Further, he also emphasized that respecting the sport, and the opponents is also very crucial and is a huge part of being the greatest. In the same conversation, he also shared his best wishes to the NBA star over his record-breaking achievement.

The ‘Djoker’ congratulated the four-time NBA champion for scoring the highest number of points in NBA history. He said, “I congratulate LeBron for his historic achievement. He absolutely deserves it because, at this age, he works as hard as anybody really out there.”
