The Wimbledon Championships have always had some strict rules around attires. From payers to spectators in the royal box, everyone has to follow them. There have been people voicing their thoughts against the same. However, others don’t mind dressing as per demanded to keep the custom alive.

These contrasting takes sometimes cause a ruckus. As no changes regarding the matter have been made because of the low resistance and the tournament still follows the dress codes strongly. Therefore, people who find it controlling fall prey to unnecessary humiliation. One of those cases is of the famous British racer Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton’s dismissal from the centre court of Wimbledon

The F1 star received an invitation for the finals of 2015 event alongside celebs such as, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Bradley Cooper. However, he couldn’t make an appearance in the royal box that day. The commentators acknowledged his absence but were not sure of the reason as to why.

The All England Club later delivered the reason. They stated, “Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men’s final.”

A Wimbledon spokesperson said, “If he was not adequately dressed. You could infer that he would not have been let in, but we do not comment on our guests.”

The racer, instead of wearing a jacket, tie and shoes, showed up in a tucked-in floral shirt with a hat for the Roger Federer versus Novak Djokovic match. Speaking of the finals, the defending champion got the better of Federer in a four set long match. He outclassed the eight times champion in sets of 7-6 6-7 6-4 6-3 and secured the trophy.

The Wimbledon Championships after facing severe backlash for banning Russian and Belarusian players had to settle on the counteraction of no ranking points for this year’s event. The ATP and WTA stripped every event of England off ranking points. However, the policy didn’t affect its standard.

The tournament this season witnessed several important moments. Such as the comeback of its seven times champion, Serena Williams, and her opening round dismissal. And emergence and reign of Kazakhstani professional, Elena Rybakina, along with the fall of world no.1, Iga Swiatek.
