John McEnroe started ruling the tennis world by the end of the 1980s. The American tennis player was among those players who found success in almost every form. Throughout his career, the tennis legend was able to capture seven Grand Slam titles. He also won a mixed doubles title and nine Grand Slam doubles titles.

However, other than his game, his brat nature on and off the tennis court brought a lot of attention. He was not the type of player who played quietly. Recently, in a conversation, the boxing legend and Jimmy Connors talked about how people enjoyed the American Super Brat’s behavior.

“Being a brat” made John McEnroe famous

Recently, the boxing star, Mike Tyson, was invited to Connor’s father-son podcast show, the Advantage Connors. In that, he talked about various aspects of tennis from a boxer’s point of view. However, what grabbed tennis fans’ attention was how he explained McEnroe’s stand as a Brat.

He said, “Desensitizes man being a brat and stuff that helped a lot. McEnroe was the brat all the time on it. People thought about him being a character that put attention to tennis. That’s what people talked about, even when they didn’t like them, but they still talked about.” Connor and the legendary boxer highlighted the fact that his behavior made the audience furies and they enjoyed watching his matches that are filled with thrill and drama.

Further, not only that, his popularity also stands outside the tennis court. People sometimes just enjoyed watching the seven-time Grand Slam champion speak rubbish. He added, “He’s still paid to come… I’ve been to restaurants like Columbus and 69 Steve Mackey will be there. You can hear everybody talking about and talking crap about.”

The time when Mike Tyson behaved like McEnroe

The 56-year-old author of the ‘Undisputed Truth’ wrote about a moment when he was not completely prepared to enter the boxing ring to face his opponent. He was thinking about the tennis great at the time and how he had played on the court.
