It has been nothing short of a historical couple of days for sports in Serbia. Novak Djokovic and Nikola Jokic combined forces to stir up the most remarkable week in the country’s history. While Novak Djokovic became the most successful men’s tennis player with his Roland Garros victory, Nikola Jokic dropped one of the most dominant postseason performances to drag the Denver Nuggets to its first NBA Championship.
Parallels have been drawn about how two of the most dominant athletes in the world are from Serbia. The former coach of Serena Williams used his platform to draw parallels and congratulate the two athletes.

Rick Macci, the childhood coach of Venus and Serena Williams never fails to acknowledge the top athletes on Twitter. This time he went outside tennis as Nikola Jokic’s monstrous postseason was simply outrageous.

Rick Macci took his humor game to another level. He first drew uncanny parallels between the two sports then went on to congratulate the two masters of the game.
Joker is one of the most famous nicknames that is used for both Djokovic and Jokic since they both have ‘Jok‘ in their names.

It comes off as no surprise that the two biggest names in Serbia have a really strong bond and mutual admiration. The Nole via Tennis Channel said, ” I don’t think anyone can do what he’s doing right now. Definitely the best basketball player in the world. I cheer for him greatly. He’s an amazing guy and pride of Serbia. We hope he can win his first ring”

Jokic on the other hand was full of praise for the World No.1. He said during one of his press conferences, “He’s the guy who represents Serbia in a much bigger scene. He’s the Serbian ambassador. He’s the idol to the kids in Serbia. I want to be like him.”

It is extremely inspiring for the Serbs that despite comprising only 0.1% of the world population, they have produced two of the most dominant athletes in sports at the moment. The mutual respect between the two legends makes it very sweet for the country.
