The Fiorentina defender, Stefan Savic is under Atletico Madrid’s scanner as they prepare to put up a bid for him estimated to be around £15 million.
He was also considered to be a target for the Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs, but Atletico seem to be far ahead than their competitors.
The defender, who joined Fiorentina back in 2012 has had a good last season as he was one of the instrumental pieces of Fiorentina’s backdoor. Although his tackling isn’t the best of his traits in comparison to other defenders, he makes sure the opponent doesn’t get enough chances to reach the goal. He is particularly good at aerial battles.
The 24-year-old has also played for Manchester City who bought him from the Serbian club FK Partizan for €12 million. Later, the Manchester club let the player leave for Italy as a free transfer. The player is an indispensable player for the Montenegro National team, and in the 30 games he has played for them he has scored 2.
It is quite known that Deigo Simeone is searching for some defensive depth to his team after the departure of Toby Alderweireld to Spurs, and Miranda to Inter Milan. He might prove to be strong applicant for the position, as he can play both as fullback and center back.
