In an attempt to strengthen his squad following a trophy less season, Atletico manager Diego Simeone is reported to be interested in securing the signature of River Plate midfielder Matias Kranevitter.
The news was confirmed by River Plate technical secretary Enzo Francescoli when he stated that his club are in negotiations with Atletico Madrid over the possible sale of the Argentinean this summer.
Playing as a defensive midfielder, great stamina, intelligence and composure on the ball make the Argentina U-20 star stand out on the pitch.
It is reported that Simeone would loan out the 22-year-old back to River Plate once the deal is completed and Francescoli reiterated his club’s interest in keeping him in Buenos Aires until the end of the year. “We are negotiating with Atletico Madrid over Kranevitter”, the former Uruguay international told TyC Sports. “We want him to continue at the club until December.”
Los Rojiblancos are in a hunt for a new midfielder as they grapple with the possible departure of first team regular Arda Turan.
