The long NBA career of 43-year old Vince Carter might have come to an abrupt end when the NBA announced the suspension of the ongoing season due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Carter, the only player to have played in 22 NBA seasons, was to retire with the Atlanta Hawks at the end of the 2019/20 season. But the suspension of the league could mean that the Hawks no longer featuring in the season. The Hawks still have 15 games in the regular season. But as things stand, it seems unlikely that the NBA regular season might resume. If that is indeed the case, Carter’s appearance against New York Knicks on Wednesday would be his last in the NBA.
If it would indeed turn out to be his last game, Carter will have a memorable play to remember for his final game. He made a three-pointer from the middle to take Atlanta closer to the Knicks’ score.

Vince Carter became emotional after what might have been his final NBA appearance
When Carter got the news of the league’s suspension, he himself acknowledged that it might indeed have been his final appearance. He got emotional while speaking after the game and saying, “It’s just weird.”
“As we were being briefed on everything … I’m sitting there, like, ‘All right, this is it. Like that. It ended like that.’ Probably tonight, I’ll reflect, like, ‘Golly, this is weird, man.'”
“If it ended today—and this day, this end of the season, these last 16 games will be talked about for a very long time—that’s something I’ll always remember,” Carter said. “At least I scored my last basket. It will be a weird-but-cool memory.”
