While a comeback from Wawrinka was expected at the French Open as he is a natural clay-courter, the recurring injury forced the Swiss to withdrew from the event.
The former world number three, who had a dream-run on the ATP tour from 2014-2016, struggled with knee injury in 2017 and has been in and out of form ever since.
Fans across the globe await Wawrinka’s return as he targets the upcoming US hard-court season.
