Aston Villa has been quite busy in this Summer transfer window. They’ve not only bought some new faces but also sold two of their most influential players from previous seasons, Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke. With a considerable sum of money received from the 2 transfers, Aston Villa are looking to bring a host of fresh faces to the Premier League, despite already signing a few players, some with previous Premier League experience.
Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood clearly has taken a big gamble in the market with the sheer number of additions. If history is to be considered, Liverpool and Tottenham have suffered in recent seasons by doing so.
So far, Aston Villa have completed seven summer signings already. They are-

With the exception from 2 players namely Sinclair and Micah Richards, the remainder of crop are relatively unknown faces to Premier League fans.
Sinclair was already on loan deal for the remainder of the season and now completed permanent transfer. He played 9 games and scored once and was happy with his new club. Both him and Richards have a bit of Premier League experience and will be key in bringing some good fortune for Aston Villa.
Goalkeeper Mark Bunn has had both Championship and Premier League experience both with Norwich and Blackburn Rovers and would be interesting to see how he pans out between the posts. Bunn will have to fight for first team place with American Brad Guzan.
Despite the fact that Jose Crespo came cheaply, he might not turn out to be of good value for money, given the poor season he had in the second tier of Spanish league.

The three remaining signings (Ayew, Amavi and Gueye) arrived for a combined fee of £23m. The trio will be faced with a big challenge and with the pressure of performing in the Premier League, they would need time to adjust in the side.
Now looking at spending, Aston Villa will be hoping to avoid any fight to avoid relegation like in the last 4 seasons. Sherwood wants them to be a top half side and to contest for European positions.

Villa fans expected Sherwood would go for talent over experience in English football this summer, but he has some different thoughts and the club have opted for European based players instead. Alhough, big names like Dimitar Berbatov and Emmannuel Adebayor are rumured to be on their way to Villa park soon, the situation looks like a big gamble taken by Aston Villa.
