One of the most acclaimed football clubs in English history, Aston Villa, will now open their first training academy outside England, in India.

The Villains are set to expand their circuit on a global level, starting with India. The Club’s owner Dr. Tony Xia was earlier found in several meetings with the HRD minster Prakash Javadekar discussing the benefits of the same.

Much like the English academy of the club, it’s New Delhi’s branch will recruit youngsters from the age of 5. The unit is expected to include world class facilities like 3G pitch, offices, changing rooms, gyms , classrooms and other relevant resources that might help the kids to become better players.

The club also wishes to have a partnership with one of the clubs in ISL( Indian Soccer League).

At a press conference, Xia said, “Aston Villa Football Club, one of the most successful football clubs in the history of English football, plans to expand globally and India is one of the countries where Aston Villa not only wants to have an ISL club but also open football academies all over India.”

“Aston Villa has one of the best football academies in the world and has fans all over the world and some of our famous fans include David Cameron, Prince William, Tom Hanks and, using our network, we also want to help promote the U17 FIFA World Cup being held in India next year and make it a big sports celebration in India.”

With such a mammoth investment in the sport, it won’t be long till football reigns in India. With India’s FIFA ranking improving slowly and clubs such as Aston Villa making contribution’s in the game, it won’t be long before India can see itself become a notable nation in football.
