The English midfielder, Ashley Young has been one of the few success stories of the season for United under Louis van Gaal, and has probably got the rightful reward from the Dutch manager.
The resurgence has been a surprising one, especially when his United career seemed to be over when Angel di Maria arrived. But the winger not only replaced a suspended di Maria, he claimed his first team spot back by displacing him.
The winger earns £120,000 a week at Old Trafford and his new contract at the club will be on similar terms.
Young, 30, also wishes to reclaim his spot in Roy Hodgson’s England squad and has not given up on a recall to the national squad.
