The Ashes has taken a toll on, as well as off the field. While England all-rounder Ben Stokes‘ heroics took his side to the finish line in the third test, former Australia great Shane Warne has bashed on former England batsman Chris Adams over his tweet on how Australia failed to win in the third Ashes Test.

Ben Stokes played a match-winning knock of 135* and kept the hope alive for England as they have equalled the five-match series at 1-1. Stokes added 76 runs for the 11th wicket with Jack Leach where the latter scored only 1 run.

However, the drama took place in the penultimate over of the match when Nathan Lyon missed a run-out opportunity which could have dismissed Jack Leach at the non-striker’s end. Later, Lyon trapped Stokes before the stumps but on-field umpire Joel Wilson gave him not out. He was originally out, as the replay showed. Unfortunately, Australia had no reviews left and England won the game. The result might have been different, had they used their chances wisely.

Where everyone praised Ben Stokes’ batting, Australian media highlighted umpire Joel Wilson’s error which cost them the game. While pointing out that, former England batsman Matt Prior took to Twitter lashed out at Australia.

“Wow! They’re good at giving it but not that great at taking it! Hope everyone is having a great day in the sun,” Prior tweeted.

Replying to the tweet, Chris Adams wrote: “Always been the case!!”

However, Warne didn’t take it well and he blasted Adams for the reply and shared being a club cricketer he shouldn’t say like this.

“Chris, you were nothing but a club cricketer ! So don’t even bore us with your dribble as no one is interested or cares in what you have to say ! Pipe down…..” Shane Warne tweeted.

Shane Warne took a jibe on Matt Prior earlier for taunting Nathan Lyon. After Lyon missed the chance, Prior tweeted, “Nathan Lyon #mothercricket #sleepwell.”

The tweet left Warne angry and he replied: “Excuse me? Just because Lyon knocked you over for fun, there’s still no need for that kind of silly and immature behaviour. Grow up, and enough of those stupid comments. Let’s celebrate the wonderful game of test cricket & the Ashes please!”

Prior also hit back and replied: “Now it’s silly, immature and childish? Jeez you guys have short memories! I don’t think you can pick and choose when to hide behind “it’s just banter” and then decide it’s now childish and immature. Anyway as you say moving on…”
