England are currently playing with Australia in the first Ashes where Australia were bundled out within 284 while batting first. The courtesy certainly goes to England bowlers, especially Stuart Broad who took a fifer. But Jimmy Anderson, their another key player also started well where he bowled four overs while conceding only 1 run and 3 overs went for the maiden.
Anderson, the leading wicket-taker in Test for England, felt discomfort during his fourth over of the match at Edgbaston and soon he left the field for treatment. Earlier in July, he tore his right calf muscle when he was playing for Lancashire in Sedburgh against Durham. However, he was named in the squad after getting fully fit.

Although he returned to the field after a while, he did not bowl again. Later on Thursday afternoon, he underwent a scan. If that report shows any further tear, there is a possibility that Anderson will not be playing in the next two or three Tests.

However, on the third day of the game, it was confirmed that Jimmy Anderson will bat for his side if required. He was seen practising and there is a chance of him bowling too.
Jimmy Anderson update: confirmation from England that he will bat, if required. He’ll again do a bit of running before play and MAY still bowl, which seems remarkable.

Although he might be fine now, it will be hard for England if they take the risk of asking Anderson to bowl. However, his inclusion certainly gives England more strength in the bowling department.
