With less than a week left for the next chapter of Apex Legends to kick-off, Respawn Entertainment dropped the Season 7 launch trailer yesterday. The cinematic gave fans the first look at the novelties of the battle royale’s upcoming season, dubbed Ascension. Apex Games have finally ascended to its new home in a beautiful, lush city tucked away in the clouds.
Yesterday’s launch trailer provided a preview of the brand new Olympus map, which appears much larger and vibrant than the other maps. Olympus has a futuristic cityscape, with enriched greenery amidst high-rise buildings making up the aesthetically pleasing landscape.

The launch trailer also gave fans a glimpse of the powers of the new Legend, Horizon’s ability kit. Horizon can trigger a gravity-defying tornado, which functions exactly like the teased gravity lifts on Kings Canyon and World’s Edge. She is also seen creating a miniature black hole, but it isn’t clear how this ability will function in-game.
Finally, to help players and teammates traverse such a large map faster, Apex added a new Trident vehicle in Olympus. Based on the trailer, a player can drive the vehicle while the other two remain on board and fire at enemies.

The Apex Legends community can’t wait to ascend into Olympus with Season 7
Season 7: Ascension is possibly going to be the biggest season since the Apex Legends’ inception. Therefore, when Respawn dropped the season seven launch trailer, the community tuned in to watch the expansions coming to the BR.
Shroud still enjoys his grind when he returns to Apex, and the Twitch star seemed impressed with the addition of the three-seater Trident. On the other hand, the display of Horizon’s innovative abilities amazed him. Shroud chuckled, “Is she broken? She makes a tornado, and then her ult makes a black f***ing hole. Is that balanced?”
ShivFPS watched the launch trailer on stream and discussed how Horizon’s abilities and having a drivable vehicle would make the game more dynamic. He highlighted the contrasting differences between the new map and the previous two. Olympus is not only bigger and greener, but it is also much more vibrant and colorful. After all, it is a modern-day city in the sky.

Meanwhile, the new map instilled a similar impression into NiceWigg, who labeled it “absolutely gorgeous”. He was astonished by one of the map’s POIs, decked out in vibrant colors and cherry blossoms. The Twitch streamer exclaimed, “If the colors look like that in-game, you can catch me playing this s**t for 18 hours straight!”
NiceWigg also reflected on how the gravity vortex resembling Horizon’s ability in the trailer looked much enhanced than the gravity lifts currently found in-game.
