Apex Legends usually features a Town Takeover event for a particular legend every season. Wraith, Octane, Mirage, and Bloodhound have already experienced their respective town takeovers in previous seasons. So far, Season 5 has not witnessed any events, considering it is just over a month old.
Earlier this week, players spotted a teaser in Kings Canyon that hinted towards an upcoming Town Takeover event. The teaser was in the form of banners that had a black background with a set of green binary numbers printed on them. Other than the banners, some flags also appeared, clearly indicating the prospect of a Town Takeover event.
Later on June 18, Respawn dropped a trailer for The Lost Treasures Collection event during the EA Play stream. The same trailer showcased footage of Crypto’s Map Room, therefore, confirming the next Town Takeover. Meanwhile, the banners in Kings Canyon have been updated with a new set of binary digits in the build-up to the event.

Crypto’s banners in Apex Legends have a new message
Translating the latest binary code generates a new phrase: “Syndicate rat”. The first code converted to “If you can see me, I can”. Similarly, the second one gave away the phrase, “See you. Watch your back”. Combining all three phrases forms a message that says, ” If you can see me, I can see you. Watch your back, Syndicate rat”.
Apex Legends data miner, Tobias, has efficiently deciphered all the binary codes in the build-up to Crypto’s Town Takeover.
The Binary: "1010011 1111001 1101110 1100100 1101001 1100011 1100001 1110100 1100101 1110010 1100001 1110100 101110"
"Syndicaterat." = "Syndicate rat."
If u can see me, I can + see u. Watch ur back + = If u can see me, I can see u. Watch ur back Syndicate rat.

The teasers have appeared in three phrases and seem to point towards Crypto’s past. Before joining the Apex Games in Season 3, he used to be Tae Joon Park. He and his foster sister, Mila, both were orphans and ended up working for the Syndicate due to their expertise in the field of computers. However, the Syndicate murdered Mila and framed Tae Joon Park for it, after the foster siblings had uncovered a secret about the company.

Tae Joon Park became a wanted murderer. He had to abandon his former identity and adopt a new one. Thus, he embraced the character of a surveillance expert, Crypto. The trailer for the Lost Treasures Collection event also provides a shocking development from Crypto’s past. At the end of the video, Crypto’s presumably dead sister is seen reaching out to him through his surveillance drone.
“Tae, it’s me. Be careful. He’s watching you,” Mila says to Crypto, right before the trailer ends. The update for the Lost Treasures event, as well as Crypto’s Town Takeover, will go live on June 23. Fans will not only get to experience the first Season 5 event, but they might also find out further developments about Crypto’s backstory.
