With Apex Legends Season 7 rapidly approaching its conclusion, Respawn has released the latest episode of the Stories from the Outlands series. Titled ‘Good as Gold’, the new cinematic has landed only weeks after the previous one, ‘Fight Night‘ featuring Pathfinder. The latest animated video centers on Fuse’s backstory and sets the stage up for his explosive arrival to the Apex Games as the 16th Legend.
In the build-up to Season 8, Apex Legends’ Twitter dropped a GIF teaser, portraying a handshake between two persons. It signifies the unification of the obscure planet Salvo with the Syndicate, the Apex Games’ organizers. As established during the ‘Good as Gold’ cinematic, this was indeed a big hint for the new character and the upcoming season’s narrative.

Fuse’s episode of Stories from the Outlands shows his journey from fighting in Salvo’s pits to joining the Apex Games
The four-minute cinematic reveals details about Fuse’s background and how he became an explosives enthusiast. It all started when two kids, Fuse and his friend Mags, stumbled upon a golden grenade that originally belonged to freedom fighters from their home planet, Salvo. The duo went through various escapades together while growing up into adults. But while Mags idolized Salvo’s fallen freedom fighters, Fuse was passionate about entering the Bonecage pit fighting scene.
Their friendship becomes strained because of their contrasting opinions as time passes by. Salvo inevitably joins the Syndicate Space after a treaty is ratified, leaving Mags exasperated. At the same time, Fuse, who is the new Bonecage Champion, informs her of his decision to leave Salvo and join the Apex Games as Salvo’s first fighter.
Handing over the golden grenade to his childhood friend, Fuse proposes a truce. Angered and disappointed at her friend’s decision to leave their home planet, Mags pulls the grenade’s pin. The grenade explodes during the ensuing scuffle, and Fuse ends up without an arm. He proclaims his truce with Mags and his blown-off arm as a lost cause and leaves the scene.

Additionally, the Season 8 page on Apex’s website gives us the first glimpse of what his character model would look like in-game. He has a prosthetic metal arm and can be seen wielding a full-on rocket launcher. All these attributes point to explosives being an integral part of Fuse’s arsenal.
The same webpage confirms that Apex Legends Season 8 will be called Mayhem. It also lists the other exciting additions coming to the battle royale game. Apart from marking the unification between Salvo and Syndicate, Mayhem will introduce the hard-hitting 30-30 Repeater rifle, a brand new Battle Pass with over 100 exclusive items, and a fresh Ranked season.

The upcoming season will also feature an “obliterated Kings Canyon”, as Respawn notes Fuse’s entrance has “dramatically reshaped” the map. That wraps up all the information currently available on the expansions of Apex’s new season. Fans can expect to learn more regarding Season 8: Mayhem in the coming days as we edge closer to its expected February 2 launch date.
