With Halloween just around the corner, all popular games are redecorating in the spirit of the spooky festivities. Respawn recently announced Apex Legends will go Halloween themed with the returning Fight or Fright Event. Today, October 22, the event went live, kicking off the spooky season in the Apex Games.
The new Shadow Royale limited-time mode is perhaps the most standout feature of Fight or Fright. This mode is an exciting shakeup of last year’s Shadowfall LTM, but with interesting twists. The Gaming Merchant has shared some gameplay of the brand new LTM, and it looks insanely fun to play.

In Shadow Royale, all slain players respawn in a powerful “Shadow-Form” as long as one Legend remains on their team. Armed with a brutal long-range melee attack, infinite Shadow lives, enhanced mobility, and blistering speed, players can terrorize other squads while protecting their own. However, once the final legend in a squad gets killed, all shadows die too.

What makes things more interesting is that shadows have heightened agility involving a lot of wall-running and double jumps. Moreover, players might end up having a Shadow Prowler as a beastly pet on their team. Shadow Royale takes place on the Kings Canyon After Dark map, the alternate dimension where Revenant hosts the Apex Games.
Since the gameplay is on the nighttime Kings Canyon map, Skull Town has reemerged from its doom once again. Besides that, the Leviathans and the flyers on the map are shadow-themed, amplifying the spooky vibes. Also, players spawn in with a gold knockdown shield in this mode, giving them one self-revive.
What better way to jump into the LTM than as Revenant himself? The Gaming Merchant does just that. After gathering the necessary loot, the team engages in combat with other squads, and he gets killed. This is when the real fun begins in Shadow Royale.
Apart from the ability to wall run and double jump, shadows can climb higher and smash through doors. They can also regain health by executing finishers. Although resurrections are infinite, the time to respawn as a shadow slightly increases after every death.

In one instance, an enemy squad’s Shadow Prowler attacks and kills The Gaming Merchant. Ultimately, he ends up getting multiple kills in his Shadow-Form, but his team gets eliminated in a top-four situation when the last living squadmate dies.
