The 6th Season of Apex Legends is finally here with a host of new features and additions. We now have a new Legend called Rampart and a new SMG known as the Volt. In addition to this, the game also has a new feature called crafting. Now you can craft items that you need if you don’t get satisfactory loot. These are some pretty big changes in the game.

It’s interesting how Respawn came up with so many sweeping changes around the same time Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone brought about their own big changes with their current seasons.

Jason McCord, the design director at Respawn Entertainment, breaks down various portions of the changes for us in a Twitter thread.

Crafting and Rampart: how are they related in Apex Legends Season 6?

With the introduction of Crafting, it did not make sense to keep all of the original loot pool in the game. With this season, a lot of items from the ground loot pool have been moved to crates and some new items have been added.

Devotion LMG is one such time that the devs have added in the ground loot pool. Jason explains that this will leave more room for Rampart to exemplify her passive, which is making LMGs better. Furthermore, Rampart is equipped with amped walls that will help the player deal more damage and raise shields faster.

In addition to this, devs have also introduced a new SMG called the Volt. But to keep the balance and let the Volt shine, they have sent the r99 to the crates, which was a top-tier gun. Furthermore, Jason goes on to add that during this season devs wanted to bring energy mags and the Turbocharger back in the game.

Along with this, crafting will also provide players with Evo points. Sometimes, players might not be able to grab an Evo armor for themselves. Crafting Evo points will help with that and make more Evo armors available.

That’s right, devs will feature a badge when they play the game. Jason says that he is really excited to give this to the devs and that it took 6 seasons to finally get it done.
