Sony recently gave us 18-minutes of gameplay footage of Ghost of Tsushima. While some aspects of the game certainly impressed us, others felt lacking. As we approach its release date, one thing is for certain, everyone is talking about it. On a recent broadcast, one of Shroud’s viewers asked him to take a look at the footage. The former CSGO professional isn’t exactly big on console exclusives as he himself confessed. He is partial to shooters, but as always he kept an open mind and obliged.

Ghost of Tsushima follows the story of one of the last samurai in Japan, looking to fight off the Mongol invasion. The new footage gave us a comprehensive look at the combat, exploration, and the different modes featuring in the game.

Ghost of Tsushima fails to impress Shroud

One of the first observations Shroud made was that the footage wasn’t meant to hype the game up. It was simply to show off what it truly is about, which is something he appreciated. And while he was content with some aspects of the game, it wasn’t difficult to gauge his overall disappointment.

While many have been raving about how beautiful the game looks, Shroud wasn’t too sure about that. “These animations are lacking,” he remarked quite early in the footage.

He went on to explain what aspects could make the game successful.

“Honestly, if the world that they create and the stories and the characters that they create are really, really good, then that’s all the selling point is. Because everything else is pretty generic.

We just have to hope that in this game that the sense of adventure and the sense of story and characters and stuff; you just have to hope that that’s the selling point.”

As the narrator talked about the photo mode in the game, Shroud chimed in saying “nobody cares about photo mode.”

Hilariously, though, just a few moments later, a seemingly bored Shroud declared, “The photo mode looks like the best part of the game!”

All in all, Shroud is certainly not hyped up about Ghost of Tsushima. But then again, it is not really a genre he is all too keen on.

What did you think of the gameplay? Are you excited enough to buy the game as soon as it releases?
