Nintendo has introduced an enormous amount of content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the 2.0 update. Furthermore, players who have purchased the expansion pack can enjoy more content than others.

Unfortunately, Nintendo has already announced that it will no longer support New Horizons from now on. It means we will only see minor updates to fix some in-game bugs in the future. Therefore, to attract more audiences to the game, developers also introduced new mechanics. Some of them are first to be released in any Animal Crossing title.

Polishing feature secret effects introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

With the launch of the 2.0 update, Nintendo also released a new mechanic called polishing. After unlocking the technique, you can use them on your island and in paid DLC. Unfortunately, the polishing feature can only be unlocked if you have purchased the expansion pack, Happy Home Paradise.

After designing four vacation homes, you will be able to use this technique. The polishing effect is very adorable and you can polish furniture in your home as well as your villagers’ home. However, you can add 13 more effects each with customization options.

These are Sparkleblast, Pitterpat, Dizzyspin, Spaceblip, Dripdrop, Fuzzybubs, Gloomswirl, Steamshine, Brrrbrrr, Zappamatic, Stressbuzz, Bobbleshock, Flutterflap, Chatterblurb, and Custom.

To unlock these additional special effects, you have to continue designing more vacation homes for the planning service. After reaching the 12th project, Niko will tell you about the bonus effects. Moreover, just like the default polishing effect, all 13 of them can also be used on players’ islands.

Not to mention, several players will try to come up with unique ideas with the custom designs mechanics. Interestingly, the animations of your custom design are based on which effect you are currently highlighting. Naturally, you can try different types of effects on your Gyroids to make them feel more alive than usual.
