Several users want to get their hands on the new Nintendo Switch- OLED as soon as possible. The OLED Switch uses an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel instead of the standard Switch’s liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. However, you might lose all your data and previous progress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons if you are not careful.

Although Nintendo Switch makes it easy to transfer existing data, that process doesn’t include your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. The good news is if you have access to your old Switch console, it’s not too late for you; however, if you don’t have access to it, you have to bid farewell to your old island.

How to transfer your Animal Crossing: New Horizons data to Switch OLED

First, you have to download the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island Transfer Tool from the Nintendo e-shop. It’s completely free and will also pop on your screen if you search for it. Then you have to download this application on both your old and new Switch console to make the data transfer possible.

Next, hop onto your old Nintendo Switch and open the Island Transfer Tool. After that first click Continue, then Ok, and last Let’s Begin. Later, designate it as the Source system because it has the island that you want to move. Following that, click yes and proceed; this will save the old data from your old console.

Now hop onto your new console and follow the same step till Let’s Begin. After that, you have to select Target instead of Source since you will be moving your island onto this console. Then click Proceed to make it search for the old data from your previous Nintendo Switch. After a few seconds, it will find your old data and you have to click Proceed once again.

Lastly, go back to your old console and confirm the transfer by clicking on the Transfer Data. This will help you transfer all your progress from the old console to a brand new one with no worries.

In case you don’t have access to your old console, there’s still a way to get your island back. You must be a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber and enable the island backup feature on your old Switch console. If you followed these steps earlier, then you can download the required data from the cloud onto your new Nintendo Switch.

Interestingly, you will need to contact Nintendo as it can only help you recover that old data. Unfortunately, if you didn’t follow this step or are not a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber, it’s time for you to rebuild your island from scratch.
