The newest installment in the Paper Mario series has beaten Animal Crossing: New Horizons to the top spot. Paper Mario: The Origami king, the action-adventure title, is the sixth installment in the franchise. The game received much appraisal from critics.
The game’s plot is quite similar to fans of the franchise. The story begins with Mario and Luigi being invited to the Origami Festival by Princess Peach. However, on their arrival, they find out that Princess and many others have been turned into Origami by King Olly. Afterward, Mario travels around looking to set things right again by defeating Olly.
In The Origami King, players control a paper version of fan-favorite character, Mario, in a 3D world. The in-game environment is mostly based on paper and origami sculptures. The players then explore the world, interact with other characters, solve puzzles, and get into fights with enemies, throughout the course of the game.
The new Paper Mario may or may not hold the position in the long run. Animal Crossing: New Horizons could soon retain the No.1 spot, thanks to timely updates and the game’s relaxing settings. And besides, even Paper Mario has an ending; something Animal Crossing can take advantage of.
Paper Mario: The Origami King could be a breath of fresh air for the time being. Considering the pandemic situation at hand, players are more likely to continue playing and spending on Animal Crossing titles more.
