Former World No.1 Andy Murray is eyeing a comeback soon after going through a lot of rehabs in the last few months. Following a three-month injury layoff, the Scot hit the practice courts again at the National Tennis Centre. However, when is Murray aiming to join the ATP Tour again? He answers.
Dealing with a pelvic injury, Murray hasn’t played since the Davis Cup 2019 finals in November. He also skipped the offseason preparation in Miami in order to spend some time with his family. Subsequently, he wasn’t fully fit to compete consistently at the start of the season.

“I need some time to build up”: Andy Murray
Providing an injury update, the 32-year-old told Amazon Prime that he sights on playing at the Miami Open 2020 which starts on 23rd March.
“In the short term I’m training to try and get ready for Miami,” Murray said. “I’ve done so much rehab these last few months that in terms of my strength and everything. All of the muscles around the hip are working well.”
Murray pulled out of the Australian Open 2020 and then other ATP events last month. He later revealed to contemplate another hip-resurfacing surgery like he underwent last January to remove bone growth in his hip. However, he posted a series of videos of him hitting the practice courts. Needing some time to build-up, Murray aims to according to his plans and return to the tour soon, barring any further setbacks.

“It’s just I hadn’t played tennis – I’d hit twice since the Davis Cup for like 40 minutes in a three month period. I need some time to build up and feel good on the court again. But that’s kinda my plans just now unless I have a setback or something,” he added.

It will be interesting to see whether Murray start off his comeback with the doubles like he did last year at the Queen’s Club Championships or will he continue to try and make his way in the singles even? Only time will answer this question. All we can do is to hope the best for the 3-time Grand Slam champion.
