For a long time now, a debate has been ongoing over who the greatest tennis player of all time, or the GOAT, is. Every fan has a different opinion on who makes the cut here, and they have their reasons for their answer. Now, British star Andy Murray has just revealed his pick for the best player ever.

Who Did Andy Murray Pick?

Andy Murray recently arrived at the 2020 US Open. As per certain protocols, he was quarantined for 24 hours, During this time, he answered several questions from his fans. One of those was about who he thinks the GOAT is, to which he promptly said “Serena.”

Not many will be surprised by this answer. Serena Williams has been one of the most dominating players ever. She has set several records throughout her career. In addition to this, she has shown remarkable longevity by still playing tennis at the age of 38.

Despite this, there are some fans who do not think of her as the GOAT. This mainly stems from the fact that does not hold the record for most Grand Slams. However, she is one Major away from equaling it, something she will definitely want to do at the 2020 US Open.

Ever since 2018, the American star has had many opportunities to grab that 24th Slam. She reached four Grand Slam finals but unfortunately, lost all of them to some of the younger players.

While Serena is trying to equal the Slam record, Andy Murray will be trying to achieve some of his goals. Due to injuries, the British star has not won a Slam since 2016. He has also lost his position at the top of tennis and will be looking to get it back at the US Open.
