Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka was up against American player Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the Australian Open 2022. By no means was it an easy task as the match went down to the wire. With intensity, it brought a huge upset in the women’s draw as Anisimova won the match 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5).
As the match began, it was Naomi Osaka that displayed sheer dominance. She broke Anisimova in the first game of the match and managed to hold serve all along during the set.

There came instances during which the Japanese player could have broken her American opponent in the games ahead. During the set, Amanda’s serve let her down as she registered quite a few double faults and did not manage to win plenty of first-serve points. As a result, Naomi won the first set 6-4.
In the following set, Anisimova performed better and with more intent. The opening few games were hard for both players to hold serve, but they did manage with grit and determination. During the fourth game of the set, Osaka was broken for the first time in the match.

After that, the American player sailed smoothly, managing to hold the remaining games with ease. After 42 minutes, it was the Anisimova who managed to level things by claiming the second set 6-3.
In the third and final set, both players were leaving not much room for error and held their service games. In the 10th game of the set, Osaka had a few match points but Amanda managed to save them.

The winner of the match had to be decided by playing a tiebreaker. In the Australian Open 2022, the first player to reach 10 points wins the tiebreaker, which eventually was won by Anisimova 7-6 (5).
