When young kids aspire to drive, they are most often given a kart. However, for Japanese rookie driver, Yuki Tsunoda that experience was different as he reveals at what age he drove a road car for the first time.
The AlphaTauri driver explains the lengths he went to just to get behind a wheel, even if it was breaking the law. He remembers the time when he drove a road car, while his peers were still getting the hang of karting.

Yuki Tsunoda reveals his first experience with a road car
Karting is often a young kid’s first experience behind the wheel. But, for Tsunoda, he wanted something different and reveals that he drove a road car at the tender age of just 8-years-old!
Speaking at the Thursday press conference ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix, Yuki said, “It was a bit illegal in Japan.”

While his age group was still zipping around a go-kart around the track, young Tsunoda found himself behind the wheel of a road car.

How is Yuki doing behind an F1 car?
Now in Formula One, the 21-year-old has shown amazing pace and great potential in the first half of the season. Tsunoda’s best result came before the summer break at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he placed sixth, picking up eight points for AlphaTauri.

However, the Japanese driver is aware that he still has a long way to go, as he finds himself in thirteenth place with just eighteen points. With the summer break now over, Tsunoda will hope to hit the ground running in the second half of the season at Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix.

Finishing in sixth place the race before, he will aim to carry the same momentum for the upcoming weekend and pick up some crucial points for his team.
