TEAM8 is also the owner of the Laver Cup. Federer had a keen interest in starting a tournament to pay tribute to tennis legend Rod Laver. Due to which, TEAM8 brought in the Laver cup. The tournament pits top players from Europe against top players from the rest of the world.
The first edition happened in 2017 and since then several of Federer’s rivals, including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, have participated in it. Since its inception, all three editions have been won by Team Europe and they’ll be looking to extend their dominance in the 2021 edition. However, they will have to do it without the presence of any of the ‘Big 3’. Indeed, this is the first time where none of the big three will feature.
