Ben Shelton is a professional tennis player from the United States. Shelton’s career-high ATP singles ranking is No. 35, which he reached on May 8, 2023. On August 21, 2023, he attained a career-high ATP doubles ranking of No. 80. At the ongoing US Open, Shelton is smashing it out of the park as he secured a place in the quarterfinals. While Shelton is playing well on tour, he is not the only tennis talent in his family.

His recent achievements at the US Open have increased his popularity. After hitting two 149 mph serves during his fourth round match against compatriot Tommy Paul, Shelton’s popularity has increased threefold. Now, fans want to know all they can about the American player, starting with his family, which carries tennis in their heart.

Shelton is the son of Bryan Shelton, a former professional tennis player and Florida Gators men’s tennis coach. His mother, Lisa Witsken Shelton, was a top-ranked junior tennis player, and his uncle, Todd Witsken, was a pro. Ben Shelton joined the University of Florida and played for the Florida Gators, their tennis team, which was led by his father, Bryan.

But he is not alone in his generation of Sheltons who play the sport. His older sister, Emma Shelton, is also currently in the thick of the sport. Emma managed to create several records during her stint with the ITA and SEC. In the Southeastern Conference, she has been named the fresher and newcomer of the week. But this is not all she has attained.

Knowing Emma Shelton, Ben Shelton’s sister

Emma is two years older than Ben. Although she has not reached high enough to play in the WTA, she has attained several accolades of her own. From the 200s in 2015 to No. 72 in the 2018 season, she progressively rose the rankings as a junior. Emma won seven straight matches to win the USTA Winter National Championships in January and was named the ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year.

She ultimately decided to transfer to the University of Florida after her sophomore year, where her father works as the men’s team’s head coach. She started the spring season as the No. 93 in singles and No. 20 in doubles alongside Silvia Chinellato. On April 28, 2021, she attained a career-high position of No. 80 in the singles rankings.

The two Sheltons are carrying on the legacy of their family, as the siblings are playing smashing tennis at their levels. They have become ones to watch out for in the coming future of the sport.
