2020 has kicked off on a high note for Robert Kubica, as it has officially been confirmed that he has joined Alfa Romeo as a reserve driver. What actually triggered the move was his backers, PKN Orlen joined the Swiss-Italian team as the official co-title sponsor.
The Polish petroleum giant signed a multi-year deal with Alfa Romeo and the team will be rebranded, Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen. With this new marriage, PKN Orlen branding will be visible once the team launches its 2020 challenger, the C39.
Many would be glad to see Robert Kubica return to the team that handed him his Formula One debut and first win several years ago. Given his experience, Kubica will surely be a vital asset for the team, and with two experienced drivers in the team, their inputs will be valuable for Alfa and even Antonio Giovinazzi

According to team principal Frédéric Vasseur, the partnership with PKN Orlen is a declaration of their desire to improve. He also stated that the team were over the moon to welcome back Robert Kubica and the crew are eager to work alongside him.
Meanwhile, Robert Kubica himself was relieved to wipe the slate clean and forget all his woes at Williams in 2019. He said, âI am really happy to be starting this new chapter in my career as I join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN. This team holds a special place in my heart and I am pleased to see some faces still here from my years in Hinwil.â
He confessed that a lot has changed since he was last associated with the team, previously known as Sauber. However, he remains convinced that he will be just as hungry and motivated to succeed with the outfit. As mentioned before, it will also be a huge boon to Alfa Romeo to have two experienced heads like Kimi Raikkonen and Robert Kubica, with young blood in Antonio Giovinazzi
