Recently, AJ Allmendinger had a conversation with esteemed NASCAR journalist, Bob Pockrass, where he was asked whether he had any discussions regarding his potential move to the Cup Series as a full-time driver with Kaulig Racing. Allmendinger took his time to answer Pockrass’s question while making his intentions clear.

Pockrass stated, “With Kaulig Racing not having named a 2023 driver for the No. 16 Cup car (and now that Kyle Busch isn’t available), would AJ Allmendinger go back full-time Cup racing in that car? Allmendinger says he’ll do what’s best for the company but no discussions yet.“
In the video, we hear, AJ Allmendinger state, “Bob I really haven’t put any thoughts into it, haven’t had a talk about it with Matt and Kris. You know I’ve stated since the beginning that, I’m willing to do whatever they think is right for the company. And I love the Xfinity series. I have so much fun, really the four years, the last four years I’ve been in it. And obviously, the last two years being full-time. I’ve enjoyed it, you know I think there’s definitely a direction to make the program stronger, on the Xfinity side of it.”
“I’ve enjoyed the Cup races that I’ve done. I think what Kaulig Racing in general is doing in the Cup Series for the first year is pretty good, really. Especially, in my last few races in the car, we’ve had some really good runs and Justin’s doing a great job all year. So it comes down to what they think is right. I’m open to anything, I’m just enjoying my time right now. Quite honestly, Bob, I love being a part of Kaulig racing and everything about it so it’s open to them but I haven’t had any discussions.”
NASCAR fans react to the statement made by AJ Allmendinger
Fans reacted in support of the Kaulig racing driver and advised him to not make a rash decision, but rather an informed decision. All of this stirred up after there were rumors of Kyle Busch potentially headed towards Kaulig Racing. However that deal never came to light, instead, RCR confirmed earlier this month that Kyle Busch would be driving the number 8 car for them.
Fans stated that Kaulig Racing would be considered as lucky to have someone like Allmendinger since the driver loved working for the organization and remained content.
Bob I don't think he's allowed to race the 16 full-time unless he gets Greg Biffle's blessing first. That's what Denny did for the 45 car with Kyle Petty and Kurt Busch so until Greg signs off on it then Kaulig is S.O.L.

There’s a good chance that he doesn’t. I remember him saying that he wasn’t having fun when he was driving the 47 but this is a different ride so who knows.

Obviously @AJDinger is a class act.
When you enjoy your job and your company so much you're willing to step into any role they seem fit.
Can't ask for anything more and @KauligRacing and @MattKaulig are lucky to have him. Seems they run a classy outfit.

I really hope @AJDinger goes back full time with @KauligRacing. That would be my new go to “full time” driver!

IMO, if @AJDinger is comfortable running the schedule he is currently running, keep pounding that schedule. I know it's more strenuous to be full time Cup, but you do what you feel is right. 👊🏼👊🏼

As long as Mr. Tickles approves it, then yes he should get back into a cup ride. 🐱

I’d love to see @AJDinger back in the cup series full time, but I’d also like to see him when an Xfinity championship.
