Rafael Nadal is enjoying a dream run at the clay court season. He’s won the Barcelona Open and Monte-Carlo Masters in comfortable style, losing not even a single set, and looks good to capture his 11th Rolland Garros. He’s made a good mockery of his opponents, losing more than 4 games in a set just once. He enjoyed a similar run last year, only losing to Dominic Thiem at the Italian Open. Since then, he’s been unbeatable.
While a performance as dominating as this calls for heaps of praise, a notable one comes from former world number 1, Andre Agassi. Agassi, who was among the most dominating Tennis players during the 1990s and early 2000s, was the first man to win all four slams. He recently spoke about Nadal’s performance, labelling it nothing short of an impossible feat.
‘I fought so hard to win the French Open one time and this guy has won it 10 times, which is just amazing’, he said.

‘Rafa is a great inspiration for so many people around the world and whatever debate we might have over who is the best players of all-time, whether it is Rafa, Federer, Borg, Laver, there is no doubt about the best clay court player of all-time.
He has taken the sport to an entirely different level on clay, there is no doubt about that. I mean, ten French Open titles? Come on, that’s not possible, but he has done it.’
Rafael Nadal will next be seen in the Madrid Masters, where he is the defending champion. After this he has the Rome Masters followed by the biggest of them all – Rolland Garros.
While his arch rival, Roger Federer announced that he will only be returning to professional Tennis in June with the Stuttgart Open, Nadal will look to capitalise on his absence in order to defend as many points as possible. The fight for world number 1 position will heat up with the Grass Court season when Federer will be the one defending points.
