Magic Johnson was recently at the Valley to participate in the ‘Sideline RSV‘ campaign. Years after working as a spokesperson for HIV and spreading awareness and fighting against the stigma, Magic is now enlightening people about another virus that is potentially fatal to people, especially the elderly.

With Magic Johnson’s influence, he is bringing major light to the virus, and people are now realizing that there are vaccines available for this that can be utilized by older adults. During his time at the campaign, he talked about his biggest strength and plans for the future.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend was interviewed by ABC15 while he was at the campaign. During this, they asked about Magic’s life and what he hopes to attain from this. After that, Magic was asked about his future plans.

He recently bought the Washington Commanders and is now working as a spokesperson for RSV awareness. So Magic is doing a lot every day. When asked about his future, he had only one thing to say.

God usually has a plan for me. I don’t know what is next, whatever he has in store for me, I’m fine with that.

Magic is grateful to be in this world. He has already revealed to the world that his Christian beliefs are everything to him. Even Magic’s wife, Cookie, has revealed that through their toughest times in 1991, she delved deeper into spirituality to face all the hardships.

Magic has revealed in an interview that he also “turned to the Lord and put everything in His hands” when he was diagnosed with HIV.

Magic’s hope by joining the campaign

RSV stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It’s a respiratory disease that can be fatal to elderly people. The effects of RSV have risen in impact on people as a side effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of people are still not aware of the virus and its effects on them. Every year, close to 1750,000 people are hospitalized because of RSV. Around 14,000 people lose their lives as a result.

People are not aware of the medications available. New vaccines have been approved to be used by elderly people to improve their resistance to RSV. Magic wants people to be aware and know that they have hope.
