The former Los Angeles Lakers veteran recently made a guest appearance on the recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. During this segment, Kimmel discussed Johnson’s career as a player and his current stint as the owner of multiple teams. But at the end of the show, the former point guard had a little surprise for the host. “I do have a surprise for you, I got to get up because it’s right here. Now, no longer will you be saying that you now put your picture into our vacation. I’m inviting you and your wife to come on the yacht next summer with us,” Johnson said on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The saga began when Kimmel digitally inserted himself and his wife Molly into Johnson’s lavish vacation photos which took place on a yacht. The images, which quickly went viral, showed Kimmel and Molly awkwardly posing alongside Johnson and his friends, highlighting the stark contrast between the talk show host’s everyman persona and the luxurious backdrop of Johnson’s maritime getaway. “I want to thank Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly for joining Cookie and I on our incredible vacation,” wrote Johnson as the caption of the post.

During a 2022 interview with the famous actor Samuel Jackson, it was revealed that the talk show host has been pursuing the basketball veteran for a vacation invitation for six years. It seems like his efforts have finally been answered.

The invitation card featured at the end of the show gave the audience a sneak peek of what the vacation would be. Set to take place in the summer of 2025 across the Mediterranean Sea for 10-days, Kimmel and his wife will be joined by the Hollywood actor Samuel Jackson and his wife LaTanya Jackson. Although it was not revealed which boat Johnson would be taking on this vacation, it can be speculated that he would be renting $ 136,530,369 worth superyacht Phoenix 2, which he has also rented previously. Interestingly, if you need to rent this yacht, it would require you to pay $1,255,000.

So, as Jimmy Kimmel prepares to embark on a luxurious yacht trip with one of the greatest basketball players of all time, we can’t help but wonder what adventures await them. The basketball player-turned-businessman was really moved by the photoshopped pictures posted by the Talk Show host, so he continued with the joke. In July, instead of bringing a human companion, Johnson decided to bring along a cardboard cutout of Jimmy Kimmel.

Johnson had taken to his Instagram to post a series of pictures in which the cut-out of the talk show host was seen wearing an 80-themed uniform and posing with Johnson’s wife Cookie and also with Chef Daisy and pastry chef Hannah. “I sent my plane to pick up my good friend Jimmy Kimmel to join in on the fun in Saint-Tropez for the day,” read the caption of the post.

While the cutout may not have been able to engage in conversation or share a meal with Johnson, it certainly added a touch of humor and nostalgia to the trip. It’s a testament to Johnson’s playful personality and his ability to find joy in even the most unexpected situations and now with Kimmel set to join him on the next vacation, the joy can be speculated to be double this time.
