On Tuesday, the squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan was released by the BCCI. Karun Nair and Kuldeep Yadav have both been included in the 15-man squad led by Ajinkya Rahane. Sharma led the side for the T20I home series against Sri Lanka last December and again during the Nidahas Trophy in March. Kuldeep Yadav Biography

Kuldeep Yadav is a left-arm fast bowler who joined a Kanpur academy with huge aspirations. His aim was to become Zaheer Khan's successor.

However, after a while, he and his coach Kapil Pandey realized that his talent lay elsewhere. As a result, he elected to adopt a slow left-arm unorthodox style, also known as chinaman.

Kuldeep Yadav has managed to give the art of the chinaman a proper renaissance. Among his laurels are, India's leading wicket-taker at the 2014 Under-19 World Cup and first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick at the U-19 World Cup among others.

It wasn't long before he became the cynosure of the selectors' eyes. Kuldeep Yadav unleashed his potential during the 2016 Duleep Trophy and outfoxed opposing batsmen. By the end of the tournament, he boasted of 17 wickets in three matches.

Although he doesn't offer much in the fitness department, Kuldeep Yadav is an accomplished bowler. His tricks were once again laid bare during the ODI leg of the 2018 South Africa tour.

IPL Career

In 2012, the Mumbai Indians rewarded Kuldeep Yadav with a maiden IPL contract. Sadly, as was the case with most newcomers, opportunities within the playing XI were scarce. Inspite of the fact that he has bragging rights for beating Sachin Tendulkar with his googly in the nets, he was overlooked.

After two years of playing the seat-warming game, he was snapped up by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Only to warm up the dugouts for another 2 years.

Finally, the Knight Riders opted to experiment with their lineup and Kuldeep was eagerly hopping to attention. Four years of the waiting game finally paid off in IPL 2016. Once he was back where he belonged, Kuldeep Yadav showed KKR what exactly they were missing out on by not picking him. In three games, the slow-left arm bowler snatched up 6 wickets.

The only one who posed a threat to the Indian bowler was teammate Brad Hogg. For IPL 2017, he was retained for 40 lakhs and KKR elected to look favourably upon him. Kuldeep repaid the faith by picking up 12 wickets from 12 games.

Last season witnessed him growing internationally and in the IPL. That year, he came away with his maiden Man of the Match award.
