West Indies failed to maintain their 100% record when Afghanistan beat them by 6 runs in a World T20 stage match in Nagpur. Afghanistan held their nerve to register their first win in Group One.
West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl as Afghanistan posted 123-7, baited by 48 off 40 balls by Najibullah Zadran and then their bowlers saw the team home, with the leg-spinner Rashid Khan and off-spinner Mohammad Nabi taking two wickets each.

The consequence, though, does not change the result of Group One and West Indies ended up being as its front-runners and will play either India or Australia in the semi-finals. England will face New Zealand after the former defeated Sri Lanka yesterday at Kotla, Delhi.
Darren Sammy, the West Indies captain knew they have already qualified for the knockouts made just one change in the line-up that beat South Africa, with Chris Gayle rested and left-hander Evin Lewis coming in.
“A clinical chase is what’s required. We’re not going to take our foot off the gas,” he said. Ultimately, however, that’s exactly what his side did.
Afghanistan were already out after three defeats in Group One but were elated to finally register a victory – and one much against the odds.
