AEW has announced on its Twitter handle that it will be taking strict action against Sammy Guevara. The wrestler is being suspended without pay and will undergo sensitivity training as a punishment for his statements about WWE Superstar Sasha Banks in a 2016 podcast.
In 2016, Guevara was working as an extra in WWE. When he appeared on a podcast, this is what he said about Banks:
“Bro, Sasha Banks… oh my God. When I was at the WWE the other week I wanted to just go f**king rape that woman.”

While Guevara’s words may have been a spur of the moment thing, he definitely should have thought about what he was saying before saying it. At any time, making a remark like that in the way that he did would be extremely offensive.
The entire thing resurfaced now, forcing AEW to make a decision.
Sasha Banks has had a talk with Sammy Guevara about his remark
Sasha Banks herself Tweeted that she and Guevara had an open talk about his remarks, and the entire thing was clarified. She mentioned that she didn’t condone that kind of behavior or talk.

Sammy Guevara also openly apologized on Twitter, acknowledging the disgust in his words. He wanted to say it in a joking manner but used the wrong words.
I’ve made stupid, inappropriate and extremely offensive comments in my past. In my idiotic mind, I thought I was being funny in using words and terms that represent nothing but horror and pain. I am truly sorry for my hurtful words and actions, and I will never forgive myself.

I also want to apologize to @sashabankswwe for my unacceptable comments. She’s an amazing person who didn’t deserve to be the brunt of my offensive remarks. I spoke with her earlier & she helped me learn a gigantic lesson & I thank her for that. Once again, I’m sincerely sorry.

Even though Guevara and Banks may have cleared up the issue between them, the fans are not having any of it. The resurfacing of the issue along with the press forced AEW to take the decision.

Despite his apology, Guevara will be undergoing sensitivity training. His remarks were shocking as well as uncalled for. AEW was right to take immediate action on the issue and may have calmed the storm by openly addressing it.
