Jon Moxley is undoubtedly one of the hottest wrestling individuals in the pro-wrestling business right now. Also known as Dean Ambrose from his time in WWE, Moxley shocked the world when he debuted in AEW in 2019.

Being one of the top guys in the AEW promotion, Moxley has put up some splendid matches with the likes of Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and recently with Lance Archer in a Texas Deathmatch.

While being contracted with the All Elite Wrestling, Moxley still makes some special appearances to put on some exhibition matches in New Japan Pro Wrestling aka NJPW.

Jim Ross says Jon Moxley is as good as ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin was the cornerstone in the Attitude Era and one of the main reasons WWE (then known WWF) won the Monday Night Wars against WCW.

‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ had to retire because of all the injuries he sustained in his career. His no-nonsense and anti-corporate attitude was something that stood out for the crowd and that strengthened his legacy.

Speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, veteran wrestling promoter Jim Ross thinks that Jon Moxley is the “closest thing” he has seen to the level of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

He also talked about the splendid match-up between Karl Anderson and Moxley on last week’s AEW Dynamite and praised the ‘attitude’ which Jon carries inside the squared circle.

“I thought Karl Anderson had the best match I’ve ever seen him have on television against Jon Moxley. He had a great match. Moxley is the closest thing I’ve seen in pro wrestling like Stone Cold [Steve Austin] since Stone Cold. Attitudinal, body english, facial expression, and legitimate intensity. Absolutely phenomenal,” Ross said.

Just like Austin never cared about the corporate people in power and just marched down to the ring to do his thing every night and splash the beer cans together, Moxley does the same but in his own ways.
