Upon his arrival in AEW, CM Punk made it clear that he joined Tony Khan’s company only for one reason. Punk revealed that the reason he joined AEW was to help the young talent there achieve more success and popularity.
This was clear from the fact that Punk announced his first match against the former TNT Champion Darby Allin. That helped Allin greatly, as it helped him reach greater audiences.

Does CM Punk prefer Stone Cold Steve Austin over Hulk Hogan?
Speaking with Brandon Walker of the “Rasslin” podcast, Punk took shots on professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.
While talking about the popularity of certain wrestlers depending upon the geography. Punk took two WWE legends for reference, one was ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and the other was Hulk Hogan.
“Hulk Hogan is a bigger star than Steve Austin,’ but then you look at business periods, and eras, and box office receipts and all that other stuff. I think Hogan’s a piece of sh*t, so obviously, I’m gonna be like, ‘Steve Austin, yay.’

“What it what it feels like. I don’t have the words to describe what it feels like. What I know I feel like is I want to help everybody on the AEW roster f*cking get there. That’s what I know.” Punk said.
We all know Punk is not the kind of superstar who sugarcoats every sentence that he speaks. With his return to the pro-wrestling business after seven long years, Punk is making sure that other talents get the chance now.
