WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry joined AEW at their Double or Nothing PPV. Henry has been a WWE loyalist and has been with the company throughout his in-ring career. That’s why, many wondered how WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reacted to the news.
Henry recently appeared on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling podcast to discuss the same. ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ finally revealed what Vince’s reaction was when he first got to know about the shift.
The reaction might shock fans, as according to Henry, Vince was “proud” of Mark. Vince initially said that he would hate to lose Henry as he knew AEW would be great for him. Yet, at the same time, McMahon did not want to hold Henry back.

“I said, ‘Well I would have liked to have done it there but I’ve already made up my mind to leave now,’ and he was like, ‘Brother go for it, man. You can do it,’” Henry recalled Vince saying.
“He was proud of me for making the move and having the b***s to say, ‘You know what? Imma bet on myself,’ because I’ve never had a safety net in my life. Every step that I’ve ever taken has been on a high wire. It was either fly or fail and I’ve had a lot of success. I’ve flown many, many times and now I’m gonna be flying for AEW.”
It was announced that Mark Henry would join the commentary team for AEW’s new weekly show AEW Rampage, starting on August 13. Apart from his commentary duty, Henry would also serve as a coach for new AEW talents.

The 49-year-old teased an in-ring return last year. Although he has signed up with AEW in a non-wrestling role, the sports guys asked him if he would wrestle in AEW.
“Well definitely. If I’m gonna do a match, I’m gonna do a match with AEW,” Henry assured the fans.
“I mean, whether it’s the first one, the second one, or however many I feel like I got left in me. Definitely, I’m gonna be there.”
