Dutt is no stranger to managing people. He worked as a producer in WWE and also helped in training the upcoming generation of Superstars in the performance center.
The former X-Division champion has been around wrestling for quite some time now. And it seems like he made the right choice for himself, considering the success of the last AEW Dynamite episode.
According to PW Insider, Sonjay Dutt is done with his legal formalities with AEW. He was also present with the authorities at Dynamite taping in Jacksonville, Florida. However, it seems like Dutt will not be involved in any of the in-ring action.

Dutt walked away from the biggest promotion in wrestling ‘business’ quietly after handing them the notice. Interestingly, no one from WWE has confirmed the departure of their distinguished backstage staff.
Sonjay will be a valuable addition to the backstage team of AEW, considering his experience in wrestling and the creative aspect.
Sonjay Dutt’s time in IMPACT wrestling
Before helping the wrestlers in WWE’s performance center, Dutt had an impressive resume as a wrestler. He is most notably known for his time in IMPACT wrestling where he had major feuds with the likes of the Abyss and Jay Lethal.
Unfortunately, his wrestling career was cut short because of medical complications after his Achilles surgery. That kept him out of in-ring action since 2017.
Dutt had many roles at IMPACT; he was helping the backstage team to devise creative storylines for the wrestlers, and he even worked as a color commentator for the promotion until he finally left the company in 2019.
Since then, he has shown no intention of returning to the ring. However, with his new position at AEW, he can get the best out of himself as a producer.
