Christian Cage has been proving that age is just a number with his brilliant performances in AEW and is making the most of this second lease on his wrestling career.

Being a WWE legend, fans assumed Cage would sign with his former company after that emotional return at Royal Rumble this year. But he decided that All Elite Wrestling offered the better platform for him.

The star also revealed that it was former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley who convinced him to join the promotion, and things took off from there.

“I have friends who work with both companies, and one of my good friends is Jon Moxley,” Christian said, speaking to Bleacher Report“We were talking and he said ‘Listen, you’re a free agent and it’s probably going to be the last time it happens for you. You have to weigh all your options. You hold all the cards so you should at least have a conversation with Tony [Khan].’”

“I thought he was right, so I had a conversation with Tony. We talked for a couple of hours and we hit it off. Hearing what he thought I could offer the company and what I thought I could bring to the table, it just seemed like a perfect fit at this stage in my career,” Cage explained. “That’s what this is about, having the proper platform for this final chapter of my career.”

Christian Cage appreciated Tony Khan’s honesty on call

Agent Moxley only teed it up, but it was Tony Khan who took it away in the end. The boss laid down a plan that Cage just could not refuse and understood that it gave him a bigger spotlight than WWE ever could. Especially at this point, when there are so many talents that need to be pushed.

“What I appreciate about Tony is his honesty and what a legitimately good person he is. That goes a long way with me,” Cage admitted. “This is about what I can do to help the company and what I can do for the next generation of wrestlers.”
