MJF will finally get an opportunity to become a member of Chris Jericho‘s Inner Circle. However, to gain entry into AEW’s most iconic faction, MJF has to beat Chris Jericho at Full Gear.
The titanic match was set up on this week’s Dynamite in an explosive ‘town hall’ meeting between the former AEW Champion and the ‘Salt of the Earth’.
The town hall was hosted by Tony Schiavone and Dasha, while Dr. Britt Baker, Luchasaurus, Peter Avalon and Eric Bischoff asked the two Superstars questions. The questions were targeted at the youngster’s poor track record with friendships, especially his heel turn on Cody at last year’s Full Gear PPV.

After the panelists asked their questions, Jericho and MJF had a heated exchange of words which led to the Full Gear match being set up. “How do we know you won’t stab us in the back?”, asked Jericho. MJF retorted, “Last week I gave you the best segment of your career! What haven’t I done in this business.” To this, Jericho calmly replied, “You haven’t beaten me.”
This story has been brewing since MJF turned on Cody at 2019’s Full Gear. At last year’s event, Chris Jericho beat Cody to retain the AEW Title.
Jericho locked a crimson-masked Cody in the Liontamer. MJF threw in the towel to save Cody from suffering irreparable damage. He then low-blowed Cody to mark the beginning of their rivalry.

On Dynamite, MJF promised he would do whatever it takes to beat Jericho at Full Gear. This enraged Ortiz who lashed out at him. “Sammy and I don’t want you in the Inner Circle, Santana is so-so about it, and Jake is too busy preparing for a fight.”
Ortiz’s outburst ended with him challenging MJF and Wardlow to a tag-team match against him and Sammy Guevara.
“You won’t make it to Full Gear,” Ortiz snarled at MJF. Chris Jericho’s chicanery and tom-foolery with the ‘Salt of the Earth’ has clearly gotten under the skin of the rest of the Inner Circle.

Sammy Guevara, especially, would be the most jealous of this brewing friendship. Before MJF was in the picture, it was Sammy who was a younger brother to Chris Jericho.
The tag-team match next week would be a cracker, with them looking to ensure MJF doesn’t make it to Full Gear. In the meantime, Wardlow will be looking to break out as a singles star after shining in the AEW Title Contender Tournament.
