The very first episode of AEW Rampage had high expectations, and it delivered. With Christian Cage’s epic IMPACT World Title win over Kenny Omega, the show got off to the perfect start. But now, rumors of CM Punk coming to AEW have risen.
AEW President, General Manager & Head of Creative Tony Khan took to Twitter and said that there will be a huge announcement for the crowd.

AEW Rampage: First Dance is expected to witness the return of CM Punk, who will end a seven-year hiatus from wrestling after leaving WWE in early 2014.
Does Tony Khan’s announcement point to CM Punk returning?
Tony Khan took to Twitter and hyped the upcoming event of AEW; however, the most notable thing he wrote was that this week’s Rampage will build up the upcoming All Out PPV in September.
“I’m betting that excitement from the most anticipated announcement in @AEW history at #AEWRampage The First Dance will build up through All Out on PPV. We’ll make new fans + we’ll welcome dormant wrestling households worldwide back into the fold; a new era in #AEW begins tomorrow.” Tony wrote.

Surely, this Tweet from Khan has made the speculation about Punk signing with AEW more strong. However, it seems like an announcement will be made about Punk, which would then end at the All Out pay-per-view on September 5.
The biggest hint pointing towards Punk’s return is his hometown. With the First Dance taking place in Chicago, it seems like the perfect way to reintroduce Punk to the wrestling scene.
