Ric Flair expected to sign for AEW

This was coming for a long time! Recent reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggest that the 16-time WWE Champion could well be on his way to AEW. Tony Khan’s new wrestling brand is creating huge momentum these days, and the current tide is very much favoring them. Dave also pointed out that Ric will only consider signing for AEW or other wrestling brands whenever he can legally battle.

This relates to the 90 days non-compete clause that WWE adds to every superstar that the company has released. Wrestlers usually follow the 90 days non-compete clause so that they don’t disappoint WWE. A switch to AEW seems likely for Ric as his future son-in-law Andrade is currently working at AEW. Tony Khan has also been a huge fan of the Nature Boy and wanted him to unveil the AEW World title back in 2019. But Tony’s attempts ended in vain, as Flair couldn’t attend the function because of health issues.

As per reports, the major reason behind Flair’s request to end his stay at WWE was the storyline with Lacey Evans. Ric Flair openly stated that he was unhappy with the Lacy Evans romance as he and his daughter felt it was lame writing. Since then, WWE has poorly booked Charlotte, especially during the pandemic. This infuriated the Nature Boy as he ended his recent stay with WWE.

AEW has constantly been signing Ex-WWE Stars from WWE, and fans aren’t much impressed with this strategy of AEW stating that the company could forget their core players.
