In a recent interview, AEW Superstar Chris Jericho revealed some interesting information on a ‘spy’ who spoiled a major segment on AEW by revealing secret information on it.
On last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho had a unique segment with arch-rival Orange Cassidy. A live debate was organized between the two. They had to speak over random topics assigned to them by the moderator.

Apart from being a great setup, no one knew who the moderator was going to be and that was kept a secret. The person would be revealed on the spot of the show itself.
However, hours before the episode aired, a Reddit user revealed that Former WWE Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff would be appearing as the moderator. This put a huge dent in AEW’s plans of keeping it a secret.

Chris Jericho later spoke about the topic briefly on his latest Saturday Night Special episode.
“Social media is a different ball of wax, though. I think the amount of people who are on social media is very small compared to the overall people watching,” says Jericho.

“For example, when we had the debate and Eric Bischoff was announced on Reddit — and we know the spy is, by the way. Oh, we know. He’ll never fucking be back in AEW. [An] NXT reject was a spy, so print that,” said Jericho.
Chris Jericho claims that the released spoilers attracted viewership anyway
Jericho and the other staff must have obviously been pretty bummed out about this information being outed like that. However, he saw the silver lining and decided that it all turned out for the best anyways.

“I was like, listen, we can announce this or we can just not announce it and don’t worry about it and see, you know, the people that know will know and maybe they’ll watch if they weren’t going to,” explains Jericho. “The people that don’t know, will still be surprised. That’s exactly what happened. People were super surprised that Bischoff was there and it worked out great.”
Eric Bischoff is an all-time favorite wrestling name. His role in WCW and WWE were recurring and influential. Widely respected by fans, Bischoff was set to make an appearance on TNT television after 20 long years.

AEW’s ability to get someone like Bischoff was a huge feather in their cap. Sadly they didn’t get the full surprise that they wanted off of it. Most fans were still very excited, and the show still made its viewership targets.
As for the identity of the spy, no further information has been revealed as of now, but some fans have had their own speculations on Twitter following Jericho’s interview.
