Rest in peace Mr. Brodie Lee

Prior to his AEW debut, Brodie Lee was clothslining people’s heads off in WWE under the name Luke Harper. He was part of Bray Wyatt’s creepy cult and was booked like a total beast. During his time in WWE, he held the Intercontinental Championship and the Tag Team Championships.

Prior to the pandemic in 2019, WWE released Harper from his contract. He took a brief hiatus from wrestling, during which he filed a trademark for the name Brodie Lee. It was the name he used to wrestle on the independent scene. Before you knew it, Lee made his debut for All Elite Wrestling.

Lee debuted in AEW as The Dark Order’s Exalted One. Fans expected Matt Hardy to be revealed as the Exalted One, but Lee’s unveiling made the moment much sweeter. With the perfect combination of brute strength, technical brilliance, and scary speed, Lee was pushed to the main event very fast.

His monumental AEW career

In just a few short months, Brodie Lee became one of the hottest wrestlers on the planet. He was instantly cast opposite Jon Moxley at AEW Double or Nothing.

Fans criticized his push to the main event directly, but Brodie proved them all wrong. He and the AEW Champion put on a cracker of an AEW Championship match which was sadly overlooked because of the Stadium Stampede match.

Losing to Moxley took away Lee’s momentum. However, AEW were able to recapture his magic in the oddest way possible.

On Being the Elite, Lee became one of the funniest characters in the series. The Dark Order’s popularity soared because of his hilarious interactions with John Silver and Alex Reynolds.

Lee’s biggest moment came on AEW Dynamite on August 22 when he destroyed Cody Rhodes to take away his TNT Championship. The five-minute victory made Lee look like the monster he was meant to be. Even though he would lose the title to Cody eventually, their dog collar match is one of the finest matches of 2020.

It is pitiful that Lee did not hold the WWE or AEW World Championship. Despite that, his legendary career and legacy will be celebrated for generations.
