AEW added a new milestone into its plethora of achievements. The rising promotion inaugurated the first edition of the AEW Awards on January 27. In the show, AEW rewarded the major stars and moments from the past year, and Chris Jericho was a crucial part of the proceedings.
Jericho and the Inner Circle were nominated in the “Beatdown of the Year” category for the time when they jumped on Orange Cassidy. After winning the award, the ‘Le Champion‘ and Sammy Guevara gave quite an acceptance speech backstage.
“It could have been from any number of beat downs from over the last year but this one comes from when we ‘Bubbly boarded’ Orange Cassidy,” said Jericho. Sammy said, “Poured all that Bubbly over his stupid face!”

Jericho and Guevara called Cassidy stupid in Spanish and talked about the design of the award. The award’s design apparently came from the beat down.
“As a matter of fact, this award was designed when he belched out some of that bubbly from his stupid face, and it came out like this, and they took a screenshot of it, and then they made this exact replica award.”
Chris Jericho revealed his greatest achievement so far
The AEW Awards were in association with Bleacher Report. It was also a vote based award, so the fans chose their winners via online voting.
After announcement, Dr. Britt Baker DMD interviewed Jericho and Guevara.
“It’s probably the pinnacle of my career,” said Jericho.
“We’re going to take this award with us and we’re going to put it on our mantles and just stare at it for the rest of the night,” claimed both of the winners. However, Baker revealed they can’t take the awards home until next week because of some formalities.
Jericho and Guevara accepted the adversity gracefully and left the awards at Baker’s disposal.
