Pro wrestling legend CM Punk broke the internet last week when he returned to the ring after seven years. The former WWE Campion debited on AEW Rampage in his hometown of Chicago.

Since then, there have been numerous speculations on why the ‘Best in the World‘ came back. Punk himself has stated he wants to work with the newer talents in AEW like Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, and more. He and Allin are scheduled o face off at AEW All Out.

Punk has also praised the workspace of AEW. He has ‘retired’ the moniker ‘voice of the voiceless’ as everyone listens to what the superstar has to say in AEW.

Before AEW, Punk was shooting for the new Starz series, ‘Heels.’ It focuses on the complicated relationship between two pro wrestler brothers who run a promotion in Georgia. Punk plays the recurring character of Ricky Rabies, a heel pro wrestler.

In the press meet of Heels, a reporter asked Punk if the influence of the show has anything to do with his return. Punk said after a laugh, “100%. It’s all Stephen Amell’s fault.” Amell plays the lead role of Jack Spade in Heels.

Amell then revealed that they were having dinner during the last episode. There he asked Punk if he was going back to the ring. He also said it was a great joy to be in the same ring as Punk.

CM Punk hinted at a major superstar debut on AEW

During his promo on AEW Dynamite this week, Punk hyped up the crowd at Milwaukee. He said while facing Allin, Punk had to answer the question, “Can you still be the best in the world?”

The crowd then responded with a loud, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” chant, reminiscent of Daniel Bryan. To this Punk replied, “That’s somebody else’s shtick and you might just need to be a little bit more patient, okay?”

Former World Champion Daniel Bryan had his last match in WWE. He faced Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a title vs career match where Bryan lost and left SmackDown. Since then, his profile on the WWE website was moved to the Alumni section.

There has been no confirmation of Bryan’s status in AEW or WWE. But Punk’s hint may lead the ‘American Dragon’ to AEW. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
